Football Recap: Caesar Rodney Falls Short of Smyrna in the Playoffs

Caesar Rodney and Smyrna squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Caesar Rodney had to settle for second. They lost 52-27 to the Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-17 back in October.

A big part of Smyrna's victory came down to the chemistry between Drew Marks and his top target Kahmaj Kearney. Marks rushed for 119 yards and two scores on only six carries while Kearney rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Marks a new career-high.

Caesar Rodney moved to 7-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Smyrna, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4.

Caesar Rodney does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Smyrna, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Salesianum at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sallies' defense has only allowed ten points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
