Truckee had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They pulled ahead with a 22-21 photo finish over the Spring Creek Spartans on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted against the Spartans since October 19, 2019.

Sam Kuntz was his usual excellent self, rushing for 108 yards, while also picking up 43 receiving yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Truckee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only rushed for 160.

McCoy McArtor and Snowdon Bear Williams certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. McArtor rushed for 129 yards and one TD, while Bear Williams picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. McArtor has become a key player for Spring Creek: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Truckee's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. As for Spring Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Truckee will face off against Elko at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Wolverines' offense will have their work cut out for them. Spring Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
