Caston hasn't had much luck against Wabash recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Comets will take on the Apaches at 5:30 p.m. Caston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Caston made easy work of Argos and carried off an 18-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Carson Harness made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Caston got a big performance out of Drew McGrew, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave McGrew a new career-high in RBI (three). Parker Zimpleman was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Caston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Argos only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Wabash fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Bluffton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Tigers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Apaches have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wabash saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Baker, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Wabash's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Caston, their record is now 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Caston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wabash struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Caston might still be hurting after the 16-3 defeat they got from Wabash in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
