Wilmington scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to the Reed-Custer Comets. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Comets earlier this season, when they won 42-33.

Wilmington lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryan Kettman, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Kettman has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Rink, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Wilmington's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Reed-Custer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-13.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wilmington Wildcats take on the Manteno Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Reed-Custer has already played their next contest, a 70-61 win against Momence on the 22nd.
