Softball Game Preview: Alonso Ravens vs. King Lions

Alonso is 6-1 against King since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Alonso Ravens will look to defend their home field against the King Lions at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Alonso took a 18-run loss the last time they faced off against Plant, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Alonso came out on top in a nail-biter against Plant on Friday, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Ravens have posted since March 19, 2024.

Karina Lozada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leah Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristina Vega, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, King hadn't done well against Middleton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. King blew past Middleton 18-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Alonso, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Everything went Alonso's way against King when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Alonso made off with a 15-0 win. Does Alonso have another victory up their sleeve, or will King turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
