Softball Recap: Alleghany Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Alleghany had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 18-9 to the East Surry Cardinals. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2021.

Ellie Crouse and Bailey Nilo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Crouse scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Nilo scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Cheyenne Turney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alleghany will square off against Watauga at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Surry, they will face off against Mount Airy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
