Baseball Game Preview: Olean Huskies vs. Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines

Olean has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Bolivar-Richburg has won six straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Huskies will welcome the Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Tuesday, Olean got the win against Frewsburg by a conclusive 10-2.

Meanwhile, Bolivar-Richburg made easy work of Friendship on Wednesday and carried off a 15-5 win. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly ten runs.

Mason Baldwin and Maddox Davison were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Baldwin pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Davison tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs but no hits. At the plate, Baldwin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Davison scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Davison has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Bolivar-Richburg got a massive performance out of Landon Barkley, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Barkley a new career-high. Braden Zilker was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Olean came up short against Bolivar-Richburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 11-7. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
