Marysville hadn't done well against Dublin Coffman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Monarchs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Shamrocks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Monarchs have posted since August 24, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Marysville who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 26-24, 24-26, 25-21.

Ava Landry paced Marysville's offense, picking up 13 kills. Landry got some help from Kenleigh Russell and her 17 assists. Landry also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Morgan Wilder, racking up three apiece.

Emily Lawrensen and Milena Brennan certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Lawrensen had ten digs and two aces, while Brennan had 12 digs and one assist.

Marysville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Dublin Coffman, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Marysville will square off against Westerville Central at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dublin Coffman, they have already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Worthington Kilbourne on the 23rd.
