Iroquois West took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Hoopeston/Armstrong 21-20. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 20-14 win Hoopeston/Armstrong walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

The critical scores for Iroquois West came from Julian Melgoza, Christian Gaytan, and Aayden Miller.

Iroquois West didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hoopeston/Armstrong to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Raiders weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 55.6%.

Iroquois West didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Melgoza, Wyatt Breen, Gaytan, and Miller picked up one apiece. Miller got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
