Basketball Preview: Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights vs. Montoursville Warriors
The Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Montoursville Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neumann Regional Academy will be strutting in after a victory while the Warriors will be coming in after a defeat.
Neumann Regional Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They strolled past Montgomery with points to spare, taking the game 71-52. Neumann Regional Academy pushed the score to 54-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Red Raiders cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Neumann Regional Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jozef Savage, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Savage has scored all season. Messiah Baldwin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, Montoursville pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Mifflinburg by a score of 64-61.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shea Ulmer, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Quinn Ranck, who scored 15 points.
Neumann Regional Academy now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Montoursville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Neumann Regional Academy was able to grind out a solid win over the Warriors when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 70-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Neumann Regional Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
