Basketball Recap: Jakayla Teague and Kaylen Igbokwe Secure Win for Carthage

Carthage entered their tilt with Kilgore on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Kilgore Bulldogs by a score of 46-33. Carthage has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Kilgore, too.

Carthage was led to victory by Kaylen Igbokwe and Jakayla Teague. Igbokwe dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Teague posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Teague is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played.

Carthage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

The win got Carthage back to even at 13-13. As for Kilgore, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carthage will venture away from home to face off against Cumberland Academy at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Carthage is facing Cumberland Academy at the right time seeing as Cumberland Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Kilgore, they are taking a road trip to take on Pine Tree at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
