Maize South is 9-1 against South since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mavericks will face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Maize South's offense. They fell 3-0 to Haysville Campus on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, South also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell just short of Valley Center by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Lawson Rassette was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last four matchups.

South's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Maize South, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7-1.

Everything went Maize South's way against South when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Maize South made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
