Basketball Recap: Emy Chen Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

Crockett typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday McCallum proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over the Crockett Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since December 27, 2024.

McCallum got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emy Chen out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Chen has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda DiGiovanni, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points and five assists.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reality Baldwin, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. What's more, Baldwin also racked up three steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Lauren Smith was another key player, going 7 for 15 en route to 18 points and five steals.

McCallum's record is now 9-15. As for Crockett, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-13.

McCallum wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-38 loss against Anderson on the 24th. Crockett has also already played their next contest, a 50-24 win against Richards School for Young Women Leaders on the 24th.
