Football Game Preview: Seneca Bobcats vs. Lancaster Bruins

The Seneca Bobcats will be playing at home against the Lancaster Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Seneca's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

Two weeks ago, Seneca was fully in charge, breezing past Pickens 48-14. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Blue Flame: they've now won six in a row.

Gavin Thoma had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 168 yards and four touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 65 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Amari Verner helped out on the ground, rushing for 107 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Seneca's run defense was locked in: Pickens could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. While two picked up at least seven total tackles, Mekhi Mendez stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss). Seneca didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.3.

Seneca's defense didn't let Nolan Hardin, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Jermaine Miller was the leader with two. Seneca got some further help from Mendez: he picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Lancaster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 36-7 loss at the hands of York. The Bruins were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Seneca's record now sits at 9-1. As for Lancaster, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
