Basketball Recap: Douglass Tigers vs. Manley Wildcats
Douglass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 46-4 loss at the hands of the Manley Wildcats. The Tigers lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.
Manley found their leader in sophomore Jaklaya Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Hunter has scored at least a third of Manley's points. Ja Von Willis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Douglass' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Manley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Douglass will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Prosser at 5:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Manley, they will square off against Clemente at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Clemente: 11.8, Manley: 22.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
