Baseball Recap: Union County Takes a Loss

Union County suffered their biggest defeat since March 12, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against the Baldwin Indians, falling 15-7. If the Fightin' Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Indians when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

JAKE WALKER and Evan Roberts did some serious damage despite the final result: WALKER scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Roberts went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave Roberts a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Brugh, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Union County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. With the win, Baldwin broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-7.

Coming up, Union County will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Dunnellon at 7:00 p.m. As for Baldwin, they will take on First Coast in a tournament on Thursday. First Coast's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Baldwin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
