Baseball Recap: Highlands Gets the Win

Highlands won the last time they faced St. Henry and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bluebirds came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 5-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bluebirds.

Highlands got a great performance from Thomas Haggard as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Haggard posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five matchups.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Zimmerman, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten games. Layton Riesenbeck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Highlands' record now sits at 17-11. As for St. Henry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Highlands will venture away from home to challenge Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Henry, they will face off against Simon Kenton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
