The Union Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Morgan Trojans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Union is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Union is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Grantsville on Thursday. They lost 21-1 to the Cowboys. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.

Union saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlee Kesler, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Kesler also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgan). They put the hurt on Ben Lomond with a sharp 26-2 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Trojans with their most commanding win of the season.

Morgan has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Union, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-5.

Union might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Morgan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
