Baseball Recap: Northwest Rankin Comes Up Short

Northwest Rankin fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Brandon on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Russ Ingram was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Gavin Phillipson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Northwest Rankin's loss dropped their record down to 12-14-1. As for Brandon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Northwest Rankin nor Brandon have any future games scheduled.
