Softball Game Preview: Mayde Creek Rams vs. Cinco Ranch Cougars

Mayde Creek hasn't had much luck against Cinco Ranch recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will host the Cougars at 6:15 p.m. Mayde Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Mayde Creek made easy work of Morton Ranch and carried off a 14-3 win. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Shy'Lynn Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Eva Tyler was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Alexia Ruiz, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Mayde Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are 8-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Cinco Ranch suffered their closest defeat since March 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Tompkins by a score of 3-1. The Cougars have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Mayde Creek's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Cinco Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
