James Neville Turns in Season-Best Performance

Westside was led to victory by James Neville, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Neville rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 93 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

Westside's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5. Neville and Westside will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on October 25th.

Kadiphius Iverson's Big Game Leads Westside over Pike County

Keeping Neville company is Kadiphius Iverson, a fellow Westside player. He rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards.

Iverson is probably looking forward to his next game, a road matchup against Rutland on Friday. When Iverson last faced the Hurricanes back in September of 2023, he rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

While Pike County might've come up empty on Friday, Bryce Sammons wasn't going down without a fight. Sammons turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 33 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 121 yards and a touchdown.

This year, Sammons has thrown 10 touchdowns while averaging 126.3 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 32.44 passer rating per game. This year he is averaging 78.91 passer rating.

Kentavious Spivey Has Career Rushing Day

Kentavious Spivey posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He made six total tackles.

Rutland is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8. Spivey and Rutland will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westside at 7:30 p.m. on October 25th.
