Baseball Game Preview: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Falls City Tigers

The Fort Calhoun Pioneers will square off against the Falls City Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither Fort Calhoun nor Falls City posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Saturday, Fort Calhoun came up short against Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy and fell 4-1. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Calhoun saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Falls City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Omaha South. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since March 22nd.

Fort Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Falls City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fort Calhoun has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Falls City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Fort Calhoun took their win against Falls City in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
