Softball Game Preview: Bonham Warriors vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

The Bonham Warriors will take on the Van Alstyne Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bonham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Bonham and Celina, and Bonham kept the tradition alive. Bonham came out on top against Celina by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.

Annalyn Stafford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Bonham saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alayna Laisy, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Jewyll Hemby was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Van Alstyne, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let Gainesville get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Van Alstyne has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. Bonham now has a winning record of 8-7-1.

Bonham came out on top in a nail-biter against Van Alstyne in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, sneaking past 4-2. Does Bonham have another victory up their sleeve, or will Van Alstyne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
