Softball Recap: Oldham County Extends Winning Streak to Six

Oldham County waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Perry County Central Commodores by a score of 11-7. Oldham County's victory was all the more impressive since the Commodores were averaging only 3.71 runs allowed on the season.

Jozie Lashley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Sydney Wirth was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kayla Cartledge, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Oldham County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry County Central didn't launched any home runs.

Oldham County's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Perry County Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Oldham County and Perry County Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Colonels (ranked tenth) will meet Holy Cross (ranked 50th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Perry County Central will square off against Pikeville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (34 vs. 164).
