Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Takes a Loss

Mt. Pleasant suffered their biggest loss since January 19, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against the Longview Lobos, falling 62-31. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Lobos are ranked 81st).

Longview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bethany Baltes led the charge by going 6 for 10 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Ward, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Pleasant and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Longview, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Pleasant Grove the next time they take the court. Longview will head out to face Pleasant Grove at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Mt. Pleasant will play them later in the day, at 9:00 a.m.
