Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Mountain Grove

Mountain Grove came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Dora Falcons 19-9. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

Hannah Dowden tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since April 3rd.

At the plate, Mountain Grove got a massive performance out of Lyla Golden, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Golden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophee Peterson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Mountain Grove's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Dora, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Grove will take on Fair Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dora, they will challenge Winona at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
