Orofino is 0-5 against Timberlake since March of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Maniacs will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Orofino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.6 runs per game this season.
Orofino is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Genesee.
Livia Johnson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rilee Diffin, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Timberlake). They never let Kellogg get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Shae Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Timberlake let Alannah Winland and Marissa Needs run wild. Winland got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Needs got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Winland a new career-high. Reese Allaway also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Timberlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Orofino, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Orofino's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Maniacs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Timberlake, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Orofino continue to outrun the ball?
Orofino suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Timberlake in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Maniacs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
