Soccer Game Preview: Bloomington vs. Urbana University

The Bloomington Purple Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Urbana University Illineks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bloomington is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on Manual with a sharp 5-0 win on Thursday. Bloomington haven't had any issues with Manual recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Urbana University, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Meridian/Sangamon Valley on Wednesday, sneaking past 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Urbana University were the better team in the second half.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-7. As for Urbana University, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

Bloomington was able to grind out a solid win over Urbana University when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Purple Raiders since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
