Basketball Game Preview: Melbourne Bulldogs vs. Sebastian River Sharks

The Melbourne Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Sebastian River Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Melbourne is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Calvary Chapel Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Melbourne's way against Calvary Chapel Academy on Tuesday as Melbourne made off with a 53-27 win. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 44-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Sebastian River was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 58-52 to Jensen Beach.

Melbourne's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Sebastian River, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-5.

Melbourne came up short against Sebastian River in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 41-30. Can Melbourne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
