Baseball Recap: Altoona Comes Up Short

If Altoona was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Central Dauphin on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mountain Lions fell 5-2 to the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers on Monday. The Mountain Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Tigers earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Altoona saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Kraft, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was Kraft's first of the season.

Altoona's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Hollidaysburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Altoona does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hollidaysburg, they will face off against Huntingdon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
