Baseball Game Preview: Muir Mustangs vs. Burroughs Bears

Muir is 2-8 against Burroughs since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Muir will welcome Burroughs at 3:45 p.m. Muir will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

If Muir beats Burroughs with 13 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Muir beat Wilson on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. Considering the Mustangs have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Muir got a great performance from Miguel Castillo as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Castillo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kahlil Rishwain was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Law, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Muir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Burroughs' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Bell by a score of 3-2. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Muir's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Burroughs, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
