Baseball Recap: Wellington Dukes vs. Firelands Falcons
Wellington extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-10 in the process. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Firelands Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in April.
Wellington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Kehl, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Landon Beall was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Firelands, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Firelands' side, Aaron Bower made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Bower was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
