Basketball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Warren's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Warren unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Dubuque Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Warren of the 61-44 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Warren lost, don't look at Treyton Pafford. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 17 on his way to 28 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Pafford's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Warren's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for East Dubuque, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Warren and East Dubuque should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Warren (ranked 253rd) will meet Orangeville (ranked 723rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Warren is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, East Dubuque will square off against Beecher at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday up 235 places (203 vs. 438).
