Basketball Recap: Cotopaxi Starts off Right with Win over Cripple Creek-Victor + How To Watch

Cotopaxi had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers by a score of 49-38 on Friday. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pioneers, too.

Kenny Teter was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of William Fong, who posted ten points and five assists.

Cripple Creek-Victor lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Devon Reyes, who earned 14 points. Another player making a difference was Keagen Pappas, who scored ten points.

Cripple Creek-Victor's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cotopaxi will face off against Crested Butte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on KIPP Denver Collegiate at 2:30 p.m. on the 20th.
