Basketball Recap: Stanton's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Stanton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kelby Pohlman, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Pohlman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Skyler Siebrandt, who earned eight points along with seven boards and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Stanton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Bancroft-Rosalie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaya Snyder led the charge by going 5 for 7 en route to 13 points. The dominant performance gave Snyder a new career-high in points. Kairece Morris was another key player, going 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points.

Stanton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Bancroft-Rosalie, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.

Stanton will be taking part in a tournament against Wisner-Pilger at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bancroft-Rosalie, they will take on Pender in a tournament on Monday. Pender is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
