Baseball Recap: South El Monte Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

South El Monte never let their opponents score on Thursday. They came out on top against the Temple City Rams by a score of 5-0. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Joshua Chavez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Xavier Cordova was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Canchola, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

South El Monte's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Temple City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South El Monte will challenge Covina at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Temple City, they will square off against Monrovia at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
