The Louisville Lions will take on the Boys Town Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Louisville has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 18.
Louisville is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Arlington on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Louisville was outmatched by Arlington and fell 70-32. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.
Noelle Larson was Louisville's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Kylie Gaston held things down on the boards with four rebounds. Allie Hiatt took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, Boys Town slipped by Ralston 33-32 on Friday.
Louisville better keep an eye on Ava Levering. She was instrumental in Boys Town's win, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. They are 4-1 when Levering posts ten or more boards, but 1-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Starr Mills, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.
Boys Town smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.
Boys Town's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Louisville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Louisville has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Boys Town struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Louisville against Boys Town in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, as the team secured a 76-16 win. In that contest, Louisville amassed a halftime lead of 49-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
