Softball Recap: Snake River Comes Up Short

Snake River had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 3-14 to make it ten. They lost 20-1 to the Preston Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 on April 1st.

Snake River saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Neiley Mangum, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Preston, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-1. Considering they have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Preston's side, Ellie Keller made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Keller has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Averie Madsen was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brielle Biggs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Snake River will venture away from home to face off against Sugar-Salem at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Preston, they will head out to square off against Marsh Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
