Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Calhoun County Cougars

The Monroe Golden Tornadoes will head out to challenge the Calhoun County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.6 points per game this season.

Monroe easily dispatched Windsor Forest two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Monroe fell just short of Lee County by a score of 46-43 on Thursday. The match marked the Golden Tornadoes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Monroe might have lost, but man, Kie'Aundria Acree was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. Acree has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 40 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Mckinzy, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Calhoun County played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Seminole County, falling 59-38. The Cougars have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Monroe's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3. As for Calhoun County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
