Baseball Recap: Riverview Victorious

Riverview proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tampa Bay Tech Titans, sneaking past 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

Riverview got a great performance from Parker Burt as he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Burt a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jan Carlos Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Riverview's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Justin Edwards, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Riverview hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Riverview back to even at 8-8. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Riverview wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Brandon on the 19th. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-5 defeat against Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate on the 19th.
