Basketball Recap: East Wilkes' Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pulaski County, East Wilkes was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over the Grayson County Blue Devils. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Grayson County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maverik Goad, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Goad is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mac Goad, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points.

The victory got East Wilkes back to even at 5-5. As for Grayson County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

East Wilkes will venture away from home to face off against Forbush at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. East Wilkes is facing Forbush at the right time seeing as Forbush is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Grayson County, they will face off against Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
