Long dropped their record down to 29-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's 16-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Opp Bobcats by a score of 3-2. Anna Claire Free was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Free was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
As for Opp, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
