Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zach Shackelfod and Liam Goran Lead Keystone to Victory

Firelands typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Keystone proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over the Firelands Falcons. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 65-53 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Leading Keystone to victory were Liam Goran and Zach Shackelfod. Goran went 8 for 12 on his way to 22 points and six steals, while Shackelfod went 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and six steals. Shackelfod has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Holzhauer, who posted six points.

Keystone's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Firelands, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Keystone will venture away from home to face off against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Firelands, they will head out to square off against Brookside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
