Football Recap: New Lexington Piles Up the Points Against Unioto + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only New Lexington walked away with it. They blew past the Unioto Shermans 47-14 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

New Lexington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyson Spicer out in front who picked up 93 receiving yards and two TDs, and also threw for 27 yards and one touchdown. Spicer was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 56 yards. Paul Stenson was another key back, rushing for 117 yards and one score.

New Lexington's run defense was locked in: Unioto could only muster 1.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Harrison Ratliff for the heroic effort on defense: he. New Lexington didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.7.

New Lexington's defense didn't let Isaac Coy, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Stenson and Terrelle King, who racked up all four sacks between them. King got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Unioto took the loss, they still got scores from Jack Welch and Jonah Renner.

The win made it two in a row for New Lexington and bumps their season record up to 11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Unioto, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 11-1.

Looking ahead, New Lexington will challenge Indian Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Braves have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine contests. Unioto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
