Basketball Game Preview: Wellington Dukes vs. Clearview Clippers

Wellington is 8-2 against Clearview since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Wellington Dukes will host the Clearview Clippers at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wellington has three straight victories, Clearview has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Wellington will head into Saturday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 37) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Brookside out 33-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dukes have posted since January 24, 2024.

It was another big night for Brooke Lehmkuhl, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Jerousek, who posted five points.

Meanwhile, Clearview lost 80-55 to Columbia on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Clippers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 723rd, while the Raiders are ranked 281st).

Clearview's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Wellington, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Everything came up roses for Wellington against Clearview in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 53-23 win. In that game, Wellington amassed a halftime lead of 36-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
