Preview: Hamilton Marines vs. Lakeland Lakers
Hamilton has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Lakeland Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Hamilton suffered their biggest loss since November 4, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Prairie Heights 50-13. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hamilton in their matchups with Prairie Heights: they've now lost five in a row.
Lakeland won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. Their rough 47-23 defeat to Fairfield might stick with them for a while. Lakeland's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Katelyn Ryan, who scored 11 points.
Hamilton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Hamilton took a serious blow against Lakeland in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 71-14. Can Hamilton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
