Softball Game Preview: Clarke County Eagles vs. Luray Bulldogs

The Clarke County Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Luray Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Clarke County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Clarke County will face Luray after dropping another heartbreaker against Strasburg on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Eagles fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Luray). They put the hurt on Madison County with a sharp 19-11 win on Wednesday.

Luray's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Clarke County, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-8.

Clarke County took their win against Luray when the teams last played last Monday by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
