Volleyball Recap: Concordia Mustangs vs. Oakland-Craig Knights
Concordia lost against Oakland-Craig back in September of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Concordia Mustangs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oakland-Craig Knights. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Concordia started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Natalie Perkinson, who had six digs and 20 assists. Perkinson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Mcnair, who had 13 digs.
Oakland-Craig found their leader in underclassman Hilary Ray, who had 14 digs.
Concordia's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Oakland-Craig, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-3.
Concordia will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elmwood-Murdock at 7:00 p.m. on October 8th. As for Oakland-Craig, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win vs. Boyd County on the 27th.
