Perry County Central had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 15-18 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Martin County Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-1 back in April.
Perry County Central's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jeffrey Hancock, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Connor Perkins was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Martin County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
On Martin County's side, Chase Stacy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. Stacy has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
