Football Recap: West Rowan Starts Season with Victory Against North Rowan + How To Watch

West Rowan had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 39-20 win over the North Rowan Cavaliers. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

West Rowan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devaunh White, who rushed for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Those 152 rushing yards gave White a new career-high. Cooper Martin also helped out as he racked up 158 rushing yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something West Rowan proved: they limited North Rowan to a paltry -0.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Kaden Sanders for the heroic effort on defense: he. West Rowan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.

West Rowan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Lucas Watts led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in North Rowan's side was Kayden Weeks, who picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).

North Rowan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dyaon Norman- Jackson, who picked up 131 receiving yards and one score. A'Son Best also helped out as he racked up 125 receiving yards.

West Rowan has already played their next matchup, a 30-20 loss against Davie County on the 29th. As for North Rowan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 40-36 defeat against Salisbury on the 29th.
